PostSubject: Metal Cleaning and sealing   15th February 2010, 11:34

OK, hello you lovely cleaning people!

What is the best thing for cleaning metal? The things I need to clean are:

Strut brace - I want to clean and then seal it

Stainless Steel Exhaust - I want to clean and then seal it

and general engine cleaning too!

Answers on a post card!

Thanks guys, might t-cut the exhaust to bring it back up to colour. The sealing thing was more to protect it against more dirt so its easier to clean next time Smile

I use Autosol too. You just need to give the tailpipe wipe everytime you wash your car Moley. I keep an old microfibre cloth especially for it, then you only have to polish it once in a while.

Use Autosol Moley for gods sake ! Not bloomin Tcut! Laughing

I use Brasso! Don't think you can seal the exhaust with anything really as the heat would just evaporate /melt it away! The important thing is to clean it with something that gets rid of the tiny rust particles before they have a chance to adhere and enlargen. Autosol will do this also brasso! Wink

I just put some on a bit of kitchen roll and wipe it on, then wipe it off with a microfibre cloth - quite possibly wrong - but I don't need to use gloves then.

OK for a quick wipe over if your pipes are fairly clean but if rearly dirty then saves your hands Wink
