I'd have thought your MINI had tints as standard, rare not to! if it has then they are most likely at the legal limit!

I have a medium tint on the front.....(not legal) and dark on the back & I have not been pulled yet, maybe it's because there is a difference between the 2, it 'fools' the eye lol!

My brother is a window tinter if you need any advice thumbs up

Hi Mini-Mo

In line with VOSA Regulations under the The Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 the rules are as follows :

The law requires that the windows on the vehicle allow at least:

1) 75 per cent of light through the front windscreen
2) 70 per cent of light through the front side windows

In most modern vehicles there is a slight tint added to the windows when they are made. If you add any more tint it’s likely to result in the windows failing to meet the legal requirements. The rules on tinted windows don’t apply to the rear windscreen or the rear passenger windows.

So basically you will be absolutely fine on the rear windows and rear windscreen - i too have these done

Regarding over tinting on the driver and passenger windows and front windscreen Police are pretty hot on that as we cant see who is driving the car - i.e. a disqualified driver, wanted person or if we had to attend court to give a description of a driver it would be difficult to prove a defendant due to the illegal tint obstructing our view.

Not only that its for your safety - if you can see out the window properly - imagine at night with cyclists, motorbikes and pedestrians

Hope this helps

T
