PostSubject: Back boxes   10th December 2010, 17:54

How hard is it to change the back box on a R56 ONE/Cooper?

Anybody seen any DIY threads about?

Do you know if a back box is bolt on bolt off or is it welded?

You need to cut the old box off thats why they supply a sleeve to join new one to existing pipe Smile Most likely need to drop the exhaust off it's hangers to get a hacksaw in place Smile

Lift is the idea solution but you could reverse up some ramps and lay under the car Smile

You'd use the sleeve that you've used to fit the new box Smile

Most exhausts on new cars come as one piece now so when a new unit is fitted they are often in sections and sleeved.

If you had a warranty issue and fitted the old box back they would see it sleeved and you'd need to say something like the old one was damaged by reversing into a kerb and was replaced Wink
