PostSubject: Weekend cleaning routine - WITH LATEST PICS   5th October 2009, 09:49

Here's an outline to mine and Moley's cleaning day!

- Wash car with warm water (2 bucket technique)

- Shampoo (2 bucket technique) I used Auto Glym Shampoo, Moley used a new Megs one, I think the Megs is better

- Rinse with warm water (2 bucket technique)

- Turtle Wax bug and tar remover (not sure this actually did anything!)

- Clay using megs clay and megs quick detailer

- Rinse all the residue off

- Dry using microfibres

- Polish using an applicator pad to put it on and microfibre to remove. I used Megs step 2, Moley used Auto Glym Super Resin Polish. Think the AG SRP is easier to remove.

- Waxed with Megs NXT wax. Put on all over car with an applicator pad, left on for a while then buffed with a nice big Megs microfibre!

JOB DONE!! yahoo

Takes about 3 - 4 hours per car, but well worth it!! yahoo

Yep nice little routine there James!

I find if you use a sponge with some hotish water and dab the bugs with it, they get a little easier to remove! I use a cheap bug wipes product but seems to work well! Have just purchased that TW bug and tar remover, not used it yet so will be a little dissapointed if it don't work very well! I seem to have a bit of luck with the carplan back to black and tar wipes though!
Looking forward to the pics! Nice one! thumbs up Wink

Thanks Rob. As for the TW stuff, I tried it on my tar spots and didn't do much, perhaps we didn't leave it on long enough? We sprayed it on, spread it around a bit with a sponge, left for a couple of minutes then rinsed off.

We pretty much smothered Moley's car in it, and the bugs have gone, so perhaps it's better on bugs than tar! Will be interesting to see how you find it! Very Happy

Just found this fairly interesting site! Although it punts for products (which I have no experience of so can't vouch for effectiveness), it has some good info regarding bugs and how they affect your car body paintwork!

Oeerrr the site keeps throwing me out of the edit mode how annoying! Here it is!

Have got the link up now on previous post!

I think now you have waxed the bodywork you will find the bugs and stuff easier to remove. Just a note purchase some packet of bug and tar remover and as soon as you see them on the body wipe off! They are responsible for nasty etching stains on your paintwork if left otherwise!
