PostSubject: Our new Paul Smith roof wrap + JCW Upgrade!!   Tue May 17, 2011 7:47 pm

Been up to a couple of mods recently with the R53 which I'd thought I share. Smile

First of all, as Annie's is a 2004 Cooper S, it was fitted with the earlier JCW tuning kit which brought the power output up to 200ps approximately Smile As you know, the later JCW R53's put out 210ps and this different output was due to a different design of airbox / filter and free flowing fuel injectors. Smile An upgrade kit is available to retrofit these extra bits. Smile

We had the kit fitted a couple of weekends ago and certainly felt the difference afterwards. Smile Smile

Here's a picture of the kit being fitted:

Next up was the roof wrap. Annie thought about a few designs, but in the end went for a classic Paul Smith stripy design. Smile The colours of the roof go well with the dark green paintwork. It's still a bit work in progress, as the spoiler still needs to come off and be wrapped in the same pattern. Also we are going to wrap the A-panels in the same vertical stripes, with the inside door trim inserts and dashboard trims also going with the same pattern. Smile I'm sure not everyone will like it, but it adds both a splash of colour and is a link with the Classic Mini which used a similar style. Smile

Thank you Emily. Smile Until we saw it on the car I was still not sure if it would look great or terrible! Smile We received quiet a few nice comments about it during the London to Brighton run during the weekend and that was lovely. Smile

I think the stripes on the A-panels and inside will be just right and not too over the top. Smile Planned to get this remaining work done in a couple of weeks, so can't wait to see it all done and ready for all the summer meets and events! Smile

Thank you everyone. Smile We are really pleased with the way it has turned out. Smile However, one of my work colleagues did ask why we had painted a duvet cover pattern onto the roof of our car! Very Happy

Love the Paul Smith stripes, here's a photo I took while I was admiring it on Sunday.

I have the JCW 210 kit as well, after five years ownership it still makes me smile Very Happy

You can still get the upgrade kit from MINI. It's comes with both the JCW air box and free flowing 380cc fuel injectors. Smile Has certainly made the car feel a bit perkier! Smile As I said before, curious to see how it goes on Saturday and what real difference it has made! Smile
