Basically, just before the turbo kicks in, I'm getting a rather loud rattle, a quite noticable hesitation, then the car goes. I've just had a quick look through the forum, and I've seen one topic similar. I've checked the engine oil and all is fine. It isn't a shagged turbo is it?

(Oh, it's a R56 Cooper S, 07 reg).

The car is due a service in about 800 odd miles so I'll mention it to the dealer. Any thoughts?

Is the pipe going into the turbo loose?

I *think* there might be a tiny air gap on one of the hoses. I've just been out to check, but couldn't really have a good poke around - the turbo is still red hot, two hours after switching off!

Hi ya

yer like you say have a look for air leaks. check all the easy stuff first also check the condition of the hoses as well.
is your car using more oil and fuel than normal ?
if i was you pull of the inlet pipe to the turbo from the airbox look in with a tourch you will see the impeller see if it turns free and if there is any play in it.
if it tight or has play its banjaxed
if thats ok your bleed off valve (dump valve) might be playing up and what your hearing and feeling is the turbo surging and stalling, because there is to much air passing though it and the valve is not bleeding it off the air properly
do you know anyone with a diagniostic tool see if there is any codes stored, some times the codes dont bring your EML light on, might be worth a look
