PostSubject: Decat?   17th October 2012, 22:07

Hi,

I want my Clubbie to sound more 'sporty' and from other threads, I think a decat could be the way forward..

I am looking for a raspy growl, rather than a tractor on a cold morning... Also I don't want it to be chavy or to droan in the car on the motorway.

Any ideas?

I have done all the normal YouTube searches, but there isnt that much there to be honest.

If you go for decat, unless you have a good mot place you will have to put your old cat back each year when your mot is due,I would go for sports cat this way you can just leave on all year round,,,,

Plus you'll invalidate your warranty and get emissions warnings all the time too. So it'd be a remap too or you'll end up in limp mode!

Sport cat would be the way forward - it'd also mean you don't get in bother with the old bill if you get pulled over!

Sport button has been on every mile of every journey!!

As the N18 engine can't be mapped via the OBD2 port at the moment, Sportcat sounds like the way forward.

Any recommend ones?

Ok... Have to say Evolve was at the top of my list (Luton is easier to get to!)

Did you get them to fit it Garry?

Do you have issues with warning lights??

you could also try a stealth cat from minicraft - £150 fitted which is cheap - uses your existing cat and takes out some of the bits....I've heard good things from users here with no way of knowing (just a bit loder), and no warning light/MOT issues.

I purchased the Sport CAT and Intercooler from Evolve and had them fitted by Minicraft.

I did get the car re-mapped by Evolve but we won't go there! affraid

Warning light came on after about 200 miles but that was simply a case of taking it to Minicraft to get it reset.

If I was to go down the route again I would say go and see Trevor at Minicraft and he will advise the best course of action. Very Happy

I'm a bit late on this but if you don't have the worry of an MOT then an evolve decat is amazing. Had one fitted to my car and yes the warning light comes on but if you have a scangauge or a VI monitor you can clear it whenever you want.

It sounds unbelievably good!
