PostSubject: stone chips   29th October 2012, 17:44

Hi, I went racing to Snetterton at the weekend and have come back to find a couple of really bad stone chips on the car Mad . There was already a few on there that I hadnt got round to sorting, but now I think they need doing before the winter really sets in.

Can anyone recommend somewhere/someone to sort the chips out?? I thought about the usual Chips-away, but know from experience in the past that there quality varies greatly.

When I rang chips away I was told they don't do chips? They seemed more keen on a front re-spray.

I know dealers tend to offer a smart repair service, but im not entirely sure what the cost would be...

We got the paint from BMW and Tom did ours. A perfectly respectable job and much cheaper. He had a steady hand...

i think i'd rather pay someone to do it as I'm not the most practical of people and ill never be happy with what I did, i just need to find that someone....
I do have Vines Mini 5mins away from my office in Guildford so I might pop in and ask them.

I was gutted the other week when I got a couple of tiny stone chips on my front valance.

On other cars I've always touched it in myself but I've thought about getting it done this time.....

Wouldnt trust a company like Chips Away with them tbh.. Use a detailer if you can, if not a professional bodyshop and see what the recommend.. You will never get a perfect finish without a respray and will always see the area in touch up, but it looks better than metal colour!

Got two huge ones on my ones nose, going to get the bonnet resprayed next year. I touched them up well in mean time. R56 paint is thiner than R50's Sad

Speak with Tom from TK Detailing... He is dealing with mine and said that it will not need respraying.
