PostSubject: Belt Line Q   10th May 2013, 11:10

Hi all,

This weekend I will de-chrome my belt line with one of the basic blackout kits. For those who had already done this did they bother to remove the belt line or do it on the fly as it were still on their Mini?

Never done it but assume on the car Smile

Maybe best with some sun to warm things up and make more pliable around the bend of the windscreen Smile

Do it on the car, keep everything dry. You shouldn't need any heat as this will cause the line to change shape to quickly/much.

Take your time doing one section at a time. the heat from your hands will help with an corners fingers crossed

oh and leave a bit extra at the ends because it will shrink back over time and you will be left with an annoying strip of silver on the ends...been there done that!!!

its as simple as it can be, unpeel vinyl.. apply to chrome - its the price of the tape which takes the piss

I've known people use insulating tape before to get a feel of the look plus it seems to last ok and cheap to do again Wink
