PostSubject: Dont get caught out with a GP2 Strut brace   31st May 2013, 09:27

was contacted this morning by a fellow e-bayer re a GP2 strut brace these are comming up for sale on e-bay as a fit all product for the R56 range 2007 onwards....Be warned they dont fit!!!

"Hello, I see that you bought a GP2 strutbrace from sjparts. I see that you gave mention in their feedback that it didn't fit. What happened from there? Did you sell it on or return the item? I ask as I have also bought one and am stuck with it now. I didn't buy it from them but from Mini direct and haven't a clue what to do with it now! Thanks", ANON

I also personally contacted mini sports after purchasing from SJparts to see what they would say and was advised
"i am pleased to advise that the GP2 strut brace will fit your car but you may have to slightly modify the strut brace as they are not an exact fitment to you car. These strut braces where specially designed to suit the GP2 only."

To which I e-mailed back to say no it wont fit my car without extensive modification which would render it so weak as to make the brace ineffective!! they have not replied.

I must say that SJparts (who are in fact a main BMW dealer) to whom I gave my reg & chassis number prior to shipment/payment on e-bay and being assured it would fit did agreed to take it back and even paid my return postage...but am still out of pocket thou as had bought new nuts which i had to replace the removed ones when found it would not fit!!

I have contacted ANON to see what Model MINI they were trying to fit the brace to and am awaiting a reply so Be warned if tempted!!

Yes I knew this, it's because the GP2 uses different suspension Smile

Laughable......

when I brought my first R55 I asked if it had the secret glovebox? All I got was a blank look so showed the salesman what and where it was!

To be honest, doesn't look a major job to modify but I'm only going on the photos shown. In the flesh, it might be a different matter
