Why not? Confused
Most other 5-door supermini's like the Fiesta offer 5-door versions of their hatch.....MINI has to be in that market....I know people that would love to own a MINI hatch but need 5-doors so they had to buy a 5-door Fiesta/Corsa or similar.

If these photos were taken on a factory tour the searches for camera phones will need to be stepped up!

What's the point of the countryman then? Surely this was it?!

It's a big no from me too, it makes the F56 look stunning in comparison.

Also the mini isn't a supermini - it's a premium small hatch. Something BMW were making VERY clear. If you want a Corsa or a Fiesta, you're probably at a very different segment in the market.

The replacement Clubman will be bigger with 4 forward facing doors and built on the Countryman platform then the Countryman will grow bigger Smile

Would have looked much nicer with clubman styling - looks a bit like a shrunken Countryman at the moment, but I don't think you would need to change the Clubman much, so would still look good.

Here you go James Wink

Having worked in the trade when they were about I certainly wouldn't want one!

Yes we get it, you don't like any of the new variants that no one has seen in the metal up close yet (bar the lucky few at the premiere).  But all the constant negative comments is stifling any discussion on them at all now, I've given up looking at these threads as it's always the same negative opinions, without anyone who wants to show a liking for things able to get a word in edge ways.

From what I saw of the 5 door at the factory tour (not the camaflagued pic here) I wasn't too keen, but as said above it's needed in the range to stop people going elsewhere.  The Countryman may well be too big for some.  As for the clubby above I think it appears to look amazing, and the interior is the one thing on the F56 launch that stands out above it all as being beautiful.

Strikingly similar profile though! And yes they weren't great, but they were cheap I suppose, so cheap and crap is what you'd expect...

In honesty though, a decently specced one as an S is probably going to come out at £32,000 as the hatches are coming out at £30,000 apparently... £32,000. So 5 door strange contraption and a holiday, or some Italian style

I do and it will possible be my next move or the clubbie Wink

Have the double rear doors gone on the Clubbie? It looks like it Sad I love my double rear doors!! Does anyone know how long will have to wait for a proper look at both these new models?

No need to worry, it has the traditional Mini 'barn' rear doors. Very Happy

Whether you call it a premium small hatch or a premium supermini there will still be people who want a 5 door hatch version (whatever the segment in the market) but not necessarily a compact SUV like the MINI Countryman, Nissan Juke, Ford EcoSport or Vauxhall Mokka.

I have to say, having seen the 5 door hatch, I think it looks great! I reckon it will sell well Smile

I'm confused now. If the new clubman has 2 normal rear doors, and the 5 door has 2 normal rear doors (assuming they're, roughly at least, the same size) are mini not making 2 models that are essentially the same, just with a different boot door/hatch?

I'm guessing the Clubman will be slightly longer, therefore fulfilling the estate/touring section of the market/brand

There growing on me too Dave.

When the MINI first came out in 2001 I hated it because I was a classie lover and it took me 4 years till I ordered my Cooper S. It was the same with the R56,  I didn't like the new look at first but I now have one. I'm sure in time they will grow on most of us, as the love we have for this car called the MINI gets in you blood and its like an addiction .

I'm sure there will be no pleasing everyone and change is harder for some. guns

Well said Phillis clap

I think the new models don't look as bad as people seem to think. The scoops on the front of the Cooper s don't really look too nice, but otherwise a nice car. But £30k plus for a MINI ? You either have to be rich, mad or just totally committed to the brand to pay that for a small car.
While I like my MINI, I could rebuild it into the best & fastest one in the country for less than the BMW highwaymen want........

Many manufacturers offer the same car in 3-door, 5-door & estate form, it's not unusual!
