PostSubject: Rear Fog light problem   10th January 2014, 20:23

Hi people

I have a problem (only our 2nd ever) on our 2011 FJCW. The warning light to say that the rear fog light has failed is coming on every now and again - a yellow picture of a rear fog light with an exclaimation mark. When the picture goes out after about 10 seconds, it leaves the tiny triangle at the bottom of the rev counter showing. The triangle, as you know, is there until the fault is rectified. However, when I switch the rear fog light on, it lights up ok and the little triangle goes out. When I do a vehicle check when the fault is on, the fault log again says the light is faulty. After the fault has cleared, the vehicle check is ok.

I have removed the fog light bulb and the connections look clean. I will renew the bulb tomorrow, just in case it's breaking down for any reason.

Your thoughts please..... Thanks

Rob

Thanks Dave, will do if problem persists after bulb replacement. I know the Can-bus can lead you up the garden. We had a problem with our drivers door power fold mirror not returning to its fully extended position. After many visits to the dealers and a new mirror control unit, a new control switch and a new mirror control motor, it turned out to be the PASSENGER side mirror interfering via the Can-bus system.

My drivers mirror doesn't always fold out completely, maybe once ever 20/25 times!

I've never seen the warning for a fog light, but it sounds like it could be a bulb out, as it's the same warning for other bulbs Smile

Re: fog light check light coming on. It hasn't re-appeared since I reseated the bulb. I thought I'd post because soooo many problems seem to lapse by without resolutions being communicated  Razz
