PostSubject: Replacement MINI badges   26th November 2014, 13:25

So Spence is a bit old and the black bit on the mini badges on the front and back are worn and the black bits coming off, I remember seeing somewhere replacement gel overlays. But I can't find them. Is there a fix or do I need new badges all together

Thanks

Lilo xx

I need one for the rear of my Cooper S (R56) so am also interested; I don't want to have to buy a new badge and risk damaging paintwork during removal of the old badge if I can avoid it Shocked

Bump.

I'm pretty sure there was someone on TM that made domed badges.

I've had a quick look on eBay, it would seem that buying the entire badge is probably the easiest thing to do - judging by the price of them it would invariably cost the same for just the insert :/

There's the risk of damaging the pain otherwise. Did you fine the inserts?

Li, I ended up replacing the whole badge on the back of my R56 MCS, I used a hairdryer to make the glue on the old badge tacky then spent the next twenty minutes sawing away with dental floss. The old badge came off fairly cleanly. I then removed the glue that was left on the body with a little Meguiars Ultra-cut compound, wiped the area with an alcohol wipe, popped the new badge on and voila Shiny Shiny and no bodywork damage cheers

Will my stripe add more problems to that though?

Good point; you don't want to get the hairdryer near your stripe pale

My advice then, buy a replacement badge off eBay and gently remove the new gel centre and vice versa on the original.

from memory folks the MINI badges are easily removed. Ill ask and report back.

Id be inclined to just replace it with a new badge rather than new gel bits Smile

I took my mini badges off the rear of my r55 clubby last week. Piece of cake. Dental floss and some tar remover.

I still have the giant mini badge sitting on my desk Smile

Hi Li - I know I've been gone ages but the badges on Oscar have been on and off more times than a light switch. I've always removed them easily (think I used thin thread last time) then I stick them back on (or someone does for me) using 3M tape from Ebay.
