PostSubject: MINI badge on engine    14th August 2015, 20:22

Whilst cleaning the engine bay this evening of my 08 Cooper S I've noticed the MINI badge has gone from the engine. I can only thing this was BMW at Hailsham when they did all the engine work. Maybe replaced it with a new cover which didn't have it. I quite liked the badge in it though so looking to buy another. My question is does the MINI badges that go on the front or rear of the car have flat backs to the badge so I could glue it on to the engine box or do they come with pins? And I presume they would be okay on the engine. Just want to make sure as most are about £15.

This is the MINI badge that was on there and has now gone. And I can only find curved badges for the bonnet so I don't think they would fit properly on it Sad

I would get on to the garage and ask the to fit you a new one. They should of informed you that they removed it.

If the part has been superseded by one with no badge (likely for cost saving) you'll be on your own unfortunately. It would be worth finding out if the badges stick on, or are on with retaining pins, as if they're on with retaining pins you may be able to just glue one on (if you can get the badge on it's own). Make sure you get heat resistant glue though!

It's possible that that has happened. When The Clubman had it's engine issue, the replacement engine didn't have a badge.

If you can't get just the badge, it might be worth getting your old one back. If you're quick enough they should still have it - fishing wire or a wall paper scraper/plastering scraper might get underneath it.

I am fairly sure they have now made replacement badges. Think they are around £25.

Yes I bought a new MCS N18 valve cover, although not the badge which was available at around that price.
In transferring the badge I found that it was originally held down with some sort of double sided black tape. When I cleaned it all off I put some of my own black double-sided tape on. This melted and allowed slippage so I later tried again with some builders 'grip fix' and this held it fine..
Hope this helps....

I know the badges that go on the front and rear have pins and are slightly bevelled as I got my old one back

Engine ones?

The car front one on the bonnet has pins, the one on the rear boot is stuck on.....

Good tip for the engine badge using GripFill as it will stick anything to anything Smile
