How well did you inspect the bottle? Was it replaced during the MINI re-call? It is a known problem that wasn't always fixed.

I would recommend topping up the coolent after drying the entire engine bay.

Then wobble all the associated pipes etc and look for leaks. If not, garage Sad

I had one of the pipes replaced for this issue & thought it was fine until chilli went for her MOT one year & they abdoned cause it was leaking again. Couldn't find a crack in the bottle but appeared there was a hairline around the ridge/join in the bottle. Replaced & had no probs since fingers crossed

Have you tried filling under the ridge & above as this appears a weak point if not the pipe

I got a second hand replacement from mini matt

Hope this helps

Could just be an air lock? Just had my rad replaced coz I had a small hole. Bottle still going down though but think it's probably just an airlock. Could be the rad, or pipe. Think the thermostat housing has a tendancy to go as well.

Just keep toping up and see ho it goes. Smile

Like jack said I can pretty much garantee it will be the termostat housing it's the most annoying leak you can never really see it and when I took it to svg and they pressure tested it and it still didn't show up so they put this uv fluid in the system left it a week and the put a black light under the car then it stands out like a sore thumb. I put money on it that that's what it is Smile

I thought that your Clubman would have been under warranty ..... and therefore no arguments should have occurred.

Is a there a web site with a simple list of all known and acknowledged faults

Only way to find it really mate is to get a pressure test kit on it. Pump her up to running pressure and all will become clear! scratch Yours won't suffer with the coolant/ expansion tank woes as yours is different to the S and not pressurised. Mine used to spill out the top on hard cornering as it isn't a sealed lid.

Thermostat housing a good bet! thumbs up

I would top up and check again as there is a pressure cap on the rad. intake/top. You may have been very low on fluid and just drawn in what you topped up with. The Placcy tank is just an overflow not part of the pressurised system.

Did you remove the pressure cap fill the exp.tank until coolant came out of the pressure cap position, then refit the pressure cap and continue to fill?

Hopefully this will solve it but you need to find that leak! scratch

Good luck mate! thumbs up

yeah thats good info tom but one thing is if you pressure test it its most likely that it wont show if its the thermostat houseing because when mine went it didnt show up when pressure tested because its only really letting out steam not water

True but if you run the pressure test cold then hot you can do 2 things;

1. Eliminate leaks from hoses, Radiator, Heater etc. first. Before you change the thermo housing. thumbs up
2. Check for headgasket leak (excess Pressure build up) pressure cap relief pressure and finally confirm a hot thermo housing leak if you do the tests properly.

Maybe we need to spend £30-£60 on a Surrey new mini test kit! lol!

i would also say thermo stat housing as they warp they have a modified part for it about £27 +vat bit of a bugger to change tho lots of bits need to come out inluding battery battery tray air fliter housing and ecu and thats just so you can get to the 3 bolts that hold it on, i had to do mine a week after i bought it.

Heater matrix (radiator) is a common leak point to check, the coolant water ends up flooding the cavity under the carpet area in the passenger footwell so can go unoticed for a while, although you can often smell the antifreeze inside the car first.
