As Alot of you have probably seen from Facebook. I need a new windscreen. I have a chip the size of a 50p right in the eye level bit! What do I do. How do I go about fixing it? Preferably before Saturday :/ x Ty. Li x

Most insurances cover you for chip repairs. Call AUTO GLASS they will check and come out to you and repair it. 99% of the chip will disappear . Good luck.

If they can't repair it maybe because it classed as what they call in the A zone (this can fail an MOT) , and surgest you need a new screen then insist on a a real MINI screen with the MINI badge ingraving. This sometimes come with a cost depending on your insurance.

Li if it's more than the size of a 5p (9mm) in your eye view then it's a MOT fail as said. Are you insured fully comp? if so then your screen should be insured although you will have an excess to pay (typically between £50 - £75) if you only have Third party F & T then you may not be insured for screen damage where you will need to pay yourself Your insurer will have an arrangement with a screen company and will point you in there direction, if you go elsewhere then as Chris said you will need to pay a higher excess

Li I've had a stone chip the size of a 50p since 2 weeks after I had Oscar and i wont change it due to worries about leaks and not getting a proper Mini screen as a replacement. However, mine is not in eye level and has not failed the MOT.

That's who did mine. Make sure you check the work after my wife did not and there was a mark on glass that i spent hours getting off and the rubber seal was not fitted properly

Li, I think it best you just go with your insurers repairer. Yes there are some horror stories but on the other hand there are a lot of great repairs out there. Same in any trade I'm affraid. Plus you will have the backup of your insurer if things don't go quite to plan

im with admiral, and have 3 screens done on the mini now , all with national windscreens who is there preferred company. I had a problem with one of them (it would rattle when you hit about a ton), and they replaced the screen and every single piece of trim around to fix the problem so was well happy with that and it all cost me nothing |
