It is a bit strange, but I guess it's the same as the Countryman's roofline really, with the helmet design - it just looks larger on the coupe!

I'm not overly sure about the point of the coupé. I can understand the clubby and countryman but not so much this. And the one above is just gross!

Not a fan of the Coupe. I don't quite understand what it is that the hatch isn't already? I mean I already treat my hatch as a 2 seater pretty much anyway, and I'm unsure of the Coupe's roofline too.

The forthcoming MINI coupe may be called the MINI Broadspeed Coupe. Autocar sources suggested a while back that the Broadspeed Coupe name was being evaluated by MINI and BMW, in homage to the Broadspeed racing team that manufactured the 1966 Broadspeed GT Coupe. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/241631/ The original classic Mini Broadspeed GT Coupe at Goodwood Festival 8) (Photo: Surfblue)

My point exactly Phil! Although I can see the resemblance in the above post, which at least gives it a little historical context now.

Saw the soft top version somewhere, will try and post. Even though I'm not a convertible fan I preferred it to the coupé.

| The Roadster is also now on MotoringFile - Pre-Production MINI Roadster Spied http://www.motoringfile.com/2011/02/11/pre-production-mini-roadster-also-spied/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Motoringfile+%28MotoringFile+|+MINI+News%2C+Reviews+and+Podcast%29 http://www.gmotors.co.uk/news/2012-mini-roadster-spotted-for-the-first-time/ Historically this was the closest BMC ever got to making a 2 seater Mini-based Roadster car and now resides at the Heritage Collection at Gaydon: http://www.aronline.co.uk/sportsado34f.htm "Active between 1960 and 1964, ADO34 was a project to develop a Mini-based roadster, which would logically have replaced the MG Midget and Austin-Healey Sprite. Different versions were put forward by Austin at Longbridge and MG at Abingdon, while a coupé version (ADO35) was also developed, along with Austin-Healey versions of each car (ADO36)." |

I didn't like the coupé at first, but really want one now The roof looks odd in the spy shots as it has been disguised with black tape marking out a fake shape over the yellow/black bits. Confused me at first!

I love the countryman, plan on that being the next car! I see it has a purpose though, as has been said the hatch is pretty much a 2 seater anyway!
