PostSubject: Re: MINI Connected (retro-fit) and Mission Control..   MINI Connected (retro-fit) and Mission Control.. - Page 2 Empty20th February 2016, 11:58

Hi sorry I am a newbie here.

Last sept I bought a cooper s sport convertible 2009, loving it. It has all the bells and whistles + bluetooth, connectors for usb and aux under the main console, but it only has the radio boost installed. I would like to install the visual boost, (don't need nav) I have been surfing the net and seeing that you can only install mini connect, nothing about installing visual boost or anywhere you can buy it, even a second hand one. Does anyone know if it is possible.

2nd problem.

My car has auto start and stop which has never worked. Since I have had the car, I have had to spend quite a bit on it. changing temp valves and other small bits and pieces. Then one day while it has raining heavily the start and stop started to work. Then when I got home, i saw that some steam was coming out of the front left of the engine battery side. I took it to the garage again and had to change the water pump. But since then it has worked again. I have checked the fuses and all seems fine. Any ideas?????

Sorry for posting here, but can't find anywhere how to post a new topic.

Many thanks in advance

Welcome to Surrey New MINI Very Happy

I think it is possible to retrofit the Visual Boost or Nav as I've seen quite a few people have looked into it on other forums, but the cost to do it has outweighed the benefits, as it's quite an expensive job to do. Best thing to do is contact your local dealer and ask if they can give you an idea on how much just the parts can be first Smile

There are quite a few possibilities for stop start not working, it could be something as simple as the battery age, or the battery isn't charging fully - have you seen any errors pop up on the dash? If you're local to Surrey, we have a sponsor who are a MINI & BMW specialist, you could give them a call to see if they can give you any advice or have a look at your car - you can find their section in the main forum, TWG Automotive. Their details are here too - https://surreynewmini.forumotion.com/t5619-twg-automotive

To post a new topic, just go into the section that you want to post it in, then select New Topic - i.e. Faults & Fixes > 2nd Gen and then select New Topic in the top left or bottom left Smile

Definitely not local then! Ha. I think you must be our furthest away member Very Happy

It might be worth asking about the stop start when you take it for it's service in that case, the dealer can probably plug it in and see if there's any other cause for it not working - I have heard of people having issues with it though, it just randomly works now and again!

You may be able to change the radio yourself, but it's probably quite a big job, and I would imagine it'll need coding or something too. I've just had a look and have found a couple of threads here which might help Smile

Welcome along Smile

Personally having the stop/start not working is a major plus in my book, I'd rather not have it and always turn mine off as soon as I start the engine.

As to the visual boost, it is an expensive change and as Ian said you need to weight up if worth doing...

Good luck with what ever you decide to do Smile
