Yeah that's the button to turn it off. I only ever turn mine off if I'm having a fun drive or in the snow.

No the DSC is always on untill you turn it off. The light comes on to warn you it's off.

No there is no power but the electronic nanny won't stop the wheels spinning or limit power to the wheels.

DSC won't give you more power but is a safety feature which works alongside traction control and ABS. It detects understeer or oversteer and helps to bring the car back under control by a combination of reducing engine power and/or applying individual brakes.

When you switch off DSC you switch off traction control too but not ABS.

DSC should always be switched off in snow or ice - not for fun but for safety. You can get stuck very easily with it left on.

Strange you would think it was meant for those types of conditions.

Best switch it off after you get stuck and not before - will help avoid getting you in to trouble on a slippery road.

Although depending HOW slippery it is, it may well cause the trouble. DSC is designed to help regain traction after a minor loss of grip on an otherwise reliable surface - it will actually work very much against you if you are dealing with a lot of slip and slide on an unreliable surface eg snow and ice. This is why most RWD car manuals advise turning it off all the time in icy conditions.
