MINI UK can confirm that a Worldwide Recall Campaign has been announced.

This recall only affects certain Cooper S and John Cooper Works models with a particular additional water pump. Other models will either have a different version of the pump or no pump at all if the car doesn’t have a turbo charger.

In the UK 29,868 cars will be recalled. Customers will receive a letter inviting them to have the additional water pump replaced at their MINI dealership. The replacement takes about an hour and is free of charge for the customer.

Thanks Ian. I don't think the Cooper D's - at least the earlier ones - have the pump as mine makes no noise after switching off whereas you can here it clearly on an 'S'.

Not everyone exhibits common sense I'm still surprised they've got away with the dodgy power steering/gearboxes on early first gens mind...
