MINI UNITED 2012 SIGNS TOP BANDS FOR COTE D’AZUR FESTIVAL
Full details revealed
MINI United is back, and promises to be bigger and better than ever! The full programme of events for the summer spectacular has been finalised, including the music line-up which features world-renowned headliners plus a host of UK and international bands and DJs.
MINI United is a unique way for enthusiasts to celebrate their passion and excitement for the brand. The festival brings together motorsport thrills, stunt shows, MINI Community events and test drives, exhibitions, activities and stalls. A special highlight will be the exclusive presentation of an all-new MINI model live on site.
A big draw is always the live music, and topping the bill on the Festival Stage this year will be legendary performer Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Also playing will be Beth Ditto and Gossip, The Ting Tings, Martin Solveig, The Rifles and many other top-class performers.
The last staging of MINI United was in 2009, when 25,000 fans from more than 40 nations flocked to Silverstone. It was a fantastic way to mark the 50th anniversary of the brand’s founding.
This year it’s taking place on the weekend of 11-13 May. The venue is the Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet, near Marseille, on the Mediterranean coast of France. At around 550 miles from Calais, it’s an ideal destination for an early summer road trip. Festival goers will need to decide quickly as tickets are selling fast!
This year’s programme is richer in depth and variety than ever before. The MINI Main Tent is the hub for information about all activities and entertainment throughout the weekend. Visitors can register for MINI Driver Training, shop in the MINI World of Accessories and Lifestyle stores or get acquainted with the MINI smartphone app in the MINI Connected Lounge.
Close to the Festival Stage, the MINI picnic area is the place to relax, eat and drink or listen to the music. It’s a good spot to view the MINI Fashion Show, which previews the latest MINI Lifestyle collection.
An essential port of call is the MINI Club Area and Beauty Parking. It serves both as a visitors’ car park and a Concours d’Elegance for enthusiasts to view the vehicles and chat to owners. A MINI Care Product Show will teach drivers how to keep their car in showroom condition.
For festival-goers who feel the need for speed there’s MINI Karting, plus the chance to tackle the actual Paul Ricard circuit, formerly part of the F1 calendar. Visitors can opt to take their own car on track or co-drive with a professional racer.
A three-day ticket for MINI United costs just €45.00 (approx £37.00), and it’s possible to camp, take a caravan or book local accommodation. Full details can be found at www.MINIspace.com/MINIunited
MINI United is perfect ideal for families too. There are no age restrictions and there is an extensive entertainment programme for younger MINI fans.
Meanwhile, what better way to support MINI United 2012 than with a pair of bespoke commemorative door mirror caps? The design brings together MINI words and phrases into a red, white and blue striped image in the shape of the French ‘Tricolour’ flag. Available to fit mirrors with or without electric folding, they cost just £53.00.
