I looked into this issue on a friends MINI and I think your right about the reset tool although she managed to get it sorted by a mechanic in the end. If it has come on after a valet then take bladeTaz's advice about the connectors under the seats as it is a common problem on Gen 1's.

it would be good next time when we all have a large meeting anyone who could bring a reset tool for those whos light is on, no charge and may be BMW shouldwould/listen, especially as they sorted out our American cousins with resets for free as I have been told?.

Should be a straight forward FA-codes the CA to clear usually 10 and 06 are displayed in a straight forward case of the passenger seat back and forth then should reset no probs....though other codes could possibly spring up:(

My light was a slight complication as the passenger seat bolster containing the air bag and the seat came a part on the stitching. This guy I got restitched the seat...such a brill job, then fixed the light as before would not go out.....

The model ive got is the BD800, connects and plugs in under the steering colum on the pull down flap, once connected away you go call up the codes and then reset by clearing them.....

We got ready to go out in Lazybones yesterday and Andrew put a cover on his rear seat for the dog and his chair was stubborn and he had to be quite forceful (I wish he was that forceful with me). The airbag light came on and stayed on all our journey.

Any up to date thoughts on this problem please.

It could be the connector under the seat, for the seat airbag - it's quite a common problem, get Andrew to check it's not just come unplugged. If it is just that, I think the car needs plugging in to reset the warning unfortunately Smile

Thank you Ian. We'll have a look at the weekend in daylight. I expect somewhere like Station View will be cheaper than BMW if it needs re-setting.

My airbag light is on too - I'm getting it reset when I take the car for MOT £30.00 they've quoted me.
