| After Brands at the weekend I have noticed my upper right suspension mount is leaking oil and I'm not happy because it was changed only 15,000 miles ago for the same problem. The real kick in the teeth is that it's out of MINI's 2 year unlimited mileage gaurantee! I'm currently trying to get sorted through MINI UK but I'm not holding my breath. Surely an engine mount should last longer than this? I've only ever known mounts to be worn on high mileage and old cars? This has to be a manufacturing defect don't you think? Has anyone else had the same issue on a gen 1 just out of curiosity? Regards. |

| I think it's a common fault on the facelifted 1st gen's, but I wouldn't of expected it to go already! Hopefully MINI UK might be able to help you out - you could try contacting Andy at Berry Heathrow and see if they can help you out at all |

| Don't know too much about this subject but I'd be pushing for a goodwill gesture! As Ian said ask Andy for some help |

Mines a pre face lift MINI (Built May 04) so I wonder if there was a transition in the facelift update and mine just so happened to get a face lift component? Saying that though it has been replaced in Sept 09 already so could it of been a post face lift component fitted anyway? I am assuming it's common to post face lift cars only because of a change in spec of the mounts by the way, I don't know if this actually happened? Im going to my local dealer on Sat so hopefully they will agree with me that it's a manufacturing defect and not normal wear and tear! Will let you all know how I get on. Thanks guys for the advice. |

| You'll be protected under the sales of goods act, which says any product sold must be fit for purpose for 6 years from the date of sale. An engine mount should easily last more than 15,000 miles (only ever known them be replaced on minis really), so if all else fails it may be worth trying that route. |

| Welcome to SnM, the dealer or MINI UK didn't see it my way in the end. I had to get it done though, the oil was getting everywhere. I suppose at least I have 2 years warranty on it now so will be keeping a close eye on it from now on. Did you manage to get any good will gestures from MINI Uk frankie? |

I had a look at the vibratechics one but from reviews they can be a little to rigid and create some vibration at certain rev ranges so I decided to play it safe with the OEM one. They do get a good write up though and probably wouldn't fail as much I suspect? Cheers anyway AM autos. |

| What are your other engine mounts like? If they are showing signs of wear then they may put more stress on the top one causing it to fail early. |

Good point Phil, I made sure they checked them out prior to changing the top one. |
