I've had an r56 with full bluetooth and that had the voice button which worked... I think you pressed it and held it for a few seconds then it would ask you to speak. Worked really well when there was just me in the car, although it didn't seem to work for some reason when I had passengers!

Worked for phone use only on my Cooper D with Basic Bluetooth. On my S with Full Bluetooth & Nav it navigates through most options on the Nav / radio / Phone / Setup menus.

Hi, Newbie on here. I originally had a 2009 Cooper D with Full Bluetooth and the voice control button worked fine. I requested that the dealer specced my new cooper d withe the same full bluetooth and some other extras. Took delivery on Friday and the voice control button does not work, although the telephone button does. Dealer says that I need Visual boost radio. The brochure that I placed order from at the time back on August said that Voice control costs "£0" when ordered with full bluetooth. Any ideas, the car is pretty useless if I have to pull over or risk a fine every time I need to call someone? Can it be retro fitted. The dealer showed me an internal bulletin from last week saying that the option no longer worked with just the audio boost. Someone has cocked up as I say my order was placed in August. Can anyone offer any help/advice please? Thanks

Thanks It's a tough question, I found that Mini isn't always clear with the more technical options. I would contact either Mini Park Lane; the only 'Offical' Mini dealer (others are fanchises) or try contacting Mini UK direct. The customer services are very good. |

Voice control should come with full bluetooth and armrest; at least it always has! Shame if they changed it. Mind you, I never used it when I had it - was always easier just to scroll to number on the OBD with MFSW controls.

Thanks. My point is that also, I ordered the car before they sent the bulletin to the dealers.

Thanks everyone. Mini UK looking into it for me. Dealer says they will back me as it seems that Mini UK changed the spec but did not tell the dealer! Not sure what can be done but I don't want any type of aftermarket kit . . .

It'll only give you full voice control if the car has it specced. If it doesn't, then it'll only work for the phone options

I have it and it just tells me to "shut up and do it myself" As Ian said it has to be spec'd to be able to use on all systems....

Has your phone got Bluetooth Dee? If so use it to do a search when in the car and it will find it if you have it... Or pop into the dealer with VIN no. and they can tell you the spec |

All mine says is "sorry I didn't understand that command". Easier and quicker to do it manually.
