Flat spots in my jcw Vide
PostSubject: Flat spots in my jcw   Flat spots in my jcw Empty30th December 2012, 19:00

Ive recently got this problem with my 2004 jcw.
Every time I go to accelerate between 1500 and 3000 rpm I get flat spots and then it clears until I get above 3000.
Could spark plugs have this effect?
If any can shed any light I would be very grateful
Thanks

Check your spark plugs, oil and filter

Is your exhaust standard?

A common fault with this happening is the bypass valve ( weak spring on valve flap ) . It's a job you can do yourself and when I changed my bypass valve a year ago when i had this problem I think the part was approx £60 .

Might be worth changing the plugs first as a cheaper fix if its just a plug breaking down .

Have been getting the same problem on my 2006 JCW recently.

Had the bypass valve replaced but that didn't fix it, think it will be spark plugs next.
