As I drove to work this morning, happily listening to the radio, then it cut out - historically I've noticed patches of poor reception on my drive over the years and thought nothing of it as I expected it to return shortly, it didn't, instead it turned off the main display - which appeared to reboot - upon it's return it scrambled the sat nav (which eventually rectified itself) then about ten minutes later as I pulled into the office it happened again... so what have I done, what's broken - how much is it going to cost to fix... The only thing I did differently yesterday was put on the heaters for the footwell - would this do it? any advice appreciated

Mine did something vaguely similar when I was cleaning the car. I had all the doors open and the radio on. When is finished and started the car the radio, satnav etc wouldn't come on then I got a warning sign say excess battery discharge (sounds disgusting). But once I'd run it for a while it righted itself.

My old clubby did that to me once, on the m5 round Birmingham. Never did it again though.

Thanks Phil - I'm hoping it's a glitch, this MINI ownership stuff should come with a wallet warning!

Just been for a lunchtime drive out to the next town to collect some supplies for the zoo - the sat nav thought I was at home to begin with, but quickly sorted itself out within a few minutes... I am wondering if the battery may need a good run out to top itself up - or maybe it's not keen on this 'orrible cold wet weather?

Could be that your battery wants replacing. although I've had minis much older on the original... Definitely worth getting the battery tested if you know someone who'll do it for free/small bribe
