The 'Boost' radio in my 2010 Cooper S keeps re-booting.

It'll be fine for weeks, then it'll do it several times on a single journey.

It'll do it when the car is moving, and when the car is stationary.

Symptoms: For example, ipod > off > 89.1FM
It then takes a minute or so to recover and re-enable DAB and ipod.
Then a few minutes later, having recovered, it'll go ipod > off > 89.1FM again.

Has anyone else experienced this, what's the fix?

Bumholes. Off to a car audio specialist then! 

Have you noticed it occurring in conjunction with anything else?

Mine has done this twice on separate occasions, I thought it was to do with the heater being on at the same time at a high temperature, I meant to get it looked at but it's not happened in months (obviously it'll happen on the way home now!)

I think maybe a specialist is the best bet, hopefully just a loose wire?! good luck!

It's only when using iPod.
It's fine with CD/FM/DAB/USB memory sticks
It did it yesterday on the way home, somewhere along Steers Lane.
It did it today on the way in, somewhere along the exit ramp at M25/J8


The whole interface is hardly intuitive or ergonomic.
What other audio systems have folks had fitted as replacements?

I never noticed this with my R56, although I have to say I didn't use the iPod (or in my case iPhone back when I had one) interface too much.

Sounds like it could be a bug in the firmware somewhere, with the iPod.

My cars Boost radio sometime has a funny five minutes, but usually that is due to the iPod Classic.

I was using a 4th gen iPod Nano and a non-BMW interface 'Y' cable.
Given up on that for now, back to a memory stick.

Solution? Just buy the proper ipod cable from MINI.
