Hi all Just purchased a colour-matched Chipex Kit for my car (as advertised on SNM site) and it's BRILLIANT. This is a DIY paint chip restoration system that uses proper manufacturer's colour matched paint to achieve almost invisible repairs to paintwork chips and scratches. Basically it's a 3-step process whereby you clean the area of the chip/chips that you want to repair with the supplied solvent, then apply the paint with a micro brush, then once semi-dried, remove excess paint from the area surrounding the chip with the blending solvent, before finally finishing the blending-in with the special finishing polish. I've just done about 10 chips on my driver's door on my Black R53 JCW which were caused by gravel spat-up by the offside front wheel, and you cannot see where they were. This is so much better than the BMW/MINI touch-up paint sticks and a massively cheaper than having the whole door resprayed. You get loads of materials with the pack and it's a very quick and easy process to do yourself with amazing results. I can't recommend it highly enough!

I use Chipex, it's so easy to do and find it much better than others on the market as the paint only stays in the chip and not on the paint work. Deep chips you have to do a few times to build it up. If you look hard in certain lights ...yes you can see it. But It's better than looking at white road rash all over your bonnet. I love the stuff and was filling some yesterday. You only need to leave it on for about 10-15 mins for a good result. Some people I have spoken to say they left on much longer and the result was not good. Just brought some for the GP If anyone is thinking of buying any then let me know as I have just been sent an email from them with free delivery and 10% off . The offer is only open for 24 hrs. It not much but better than nothing. I will forward you the promotional email code

I must have another go with mine, as I did not have much success the first time. Perhaps I'm leaving it too long as you have just said Chris.

Just ordered this for Oscar, not sure it will do the chip I need it to but it's worth a go, before I pay out a fortune to have the bumper resprayed.

Chris is right, it doesn't seem to like plastic much at all, i found leaving it on more than 15 mins helped but on metal work it works way better i will say the sooner you get the chip done the better, some of my older chips just didn't want to take the paint but i will have a chat with the chipex guys and see what they suggest , wade has quite a few chips so i will probably end up with a respray at some point in the future im going to tackle my wheels next but that'll be in a few months

After touching up the paintwork on the bonnet it seems that leaving it in the sun a bit had made it better, i shall be doing the other bits but i wanted to see how this went first, ive also found that the micro brushes can be a bit hit and miss so i will be using This for the rest as its more fine, accurate and controllable Before After

Before such things like Chipex etc you could only get rattle cans and I used to use a matchstick whittled to a point, spray the paint in the lid and use the matchstick...

I did that with chilli red touch up paint and cocktail sticks on Mini when I had him, it actually worked really well. Might have to try it on Dynamo, as Chipex proved unsuitable for the GP paint.

Picked the tip up when I worked in workshops. Being a small garage I used to do the lot, mechanical, welding, paintwork and MOT tester and if the forecourt was really busy serve petrol, yes prior to self service

So we get a discount of this right? But I can't find the link? Looks a good kit, some really deep stone chips in the melting silver bonnet that annoyingly stand out!

I can't remember ever getting a discount for Chipex. From memory if you are a new customer they offer a discount. |
