| Subject: F56 dechroming 8th July 2014, 16:57 | |
Hello everyone, Does anyone know of anywhere local to me in Sussex to have my new F56 dechromed? I am unsure to the extent I would like to take this, and what colour to go. Do i do some parts black and some CC (blazing red) or do I go all black? - around the body trim (below glass) - front grille - front & rear headlight surrounds - petrol cap - door handles Can these be vinyl wrapped or do they need to be coated? Part of me thinks its a bit over to the top to do it all, but part tells me to follow through and if I am looking to dechrome then do it all! I could even introduce a third colour (maybe a gunmetal sort of anthracite). I spoke to my Mini dealer and they were reluctant to paint the parts due to the shiny finish on them being bad for painting on. Any ideas and help on how to and where to go about getting this all done? [img] [/img]

Easiest solution will be to wrap the parts If it looks rubbish you can change it or remove it Paint it will cost alot more Happy motoring

Not heard of this blackline kit? So if i pop into my dealers they will know what i'm talking about? edit: ignore me, just realised this is an f56 so they probably don't exist. Basically i want to trim my bits (if you pardon the pun) asap but its a lot harder than I first imagined!

I think with the F56 being only a few months old, the options to personalise it are currently thin barring the official MINI ones such as scuttle surrounds and mirror caps.

Thanks Davy, I am going to Surrey MINI Graphics on Saturday hopefully to have the beltline and grill wrapped, but I don't think black headlight surrounds would look very nice, otherwise I would have them wrapped too. I have decided to go down the CC route for this, and as blazing red is a metallic they need to be painted really

I'm trying my best to get the CCing done on thursday or friday too - so there's a chance that this will all be done for Minis on the Rec on Sunday Dan at DS graphics has said that Saturday is weather dependent, i guess he does the work outdoors so if it rains it can't be done this week

It looks like my local body shop will be able to CC my surrounds for the weekend - so its looking positive. Not sure what to do with the door handles and petrol cap though? Leave them? Wrap them? Paint them?
