Subject: Engine warning light on 21st May 2015, 22:49
Hello guys,
For some unknown reason today whilst driving the orange engine light illuminated on my dash. It's the symbol of the engine. I've lost no performance and the car drives perfectly normal.
Is there anything I can do or check before taking it to the likes of TWG in Camberley to be diagnosed?
It's a mystery!
Cheers,
Alex.

Have you a handbook to check? I can't remember from my Gen1 day, sorry

Is it the outline of an engine symbol at around 10 o'clock on the speedo?
If so, it's likely to be something emissions related. I had the same symptoms last year and it turned out to be a failed O2 sensor near the cat.

No it's the light above the EML light. It is the shape of an engine though so maybe we are talking about a different dash layout. I have an R50 Cooper.
Anyways, I've just been out to the car and the light has disappeared. Weird!

Having checked on mine, the light you describe is the emissions warning, I was wrong about the position earlier.
Hopefully just a glitch if it's gone out now.

Would it be beneficial to get some injector/petrol cleaner to put through the fuel tank?

If it's the emissions sensor I'd say it's the problem and maybe intermittent...
Can't see injector cleaner will help!

I'm booked in with TWG Camberley. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it. The light has decided to stay on permanently now.
