Yet another example of lousy build quality, the strap which connects car to fuel cap broke this morning. Off to Vines to order a replacement.

Mine broke a while back, just old rubber degrading! I usually stick my cap inbetween the Trigger to keep the petrol flowing so I can pop back into the car and chill anyway

There used to be a latch which would do that, removed on H&S grounds. Apparently the attendant can have your pump shut-down if they see you doing that now.

Seems strange to be made of rubber as I'd have thought petrol or diesel spillage would also aid to it degrading, nylon of some sort would be better I think... _________________ "Life's too short not to!!"

Can't say any of ours have failed, oldest being 2005... There's a little hole that holds it on the fuel door anyway so it isn't the end of the world if it does!

All fixed. Of course you have to buy an entire fuel cap, at £18.90.

Least it's done, even if you had to buy the cap, could have been worse it could have been the entire fuel system _________________ "Life's too short not to!!" |
