Hi guys

Thought I would post what I have found out about MINI Head-Up Screen Retrofit.

Firstly you can retrofit it but depends what mini you have it appears if you have the basic boost audio stuff it won't work. But will work if you have visual boost.

You can get them from Minigenuineparts for about £400 but a mini dealer or specialist would have to fit it and haven't found the price out for that yet but they have said it would need to be wired up to the car itself and may need coding so it's not exactly the easiest of jobs!

Interesting to know that it can be done though!

Anything can be done, it's just the time to do it often results in it not being viable.

Does that include a new dash top that I'd imagine you need, and the switch panel for the centre console? Also I'd guess that you'd need an additional wiring loom as it won't be there. I know heated seat retro fits to third gens is a pretty easy task providing the seats have the elements in them, but even if the seats are fitted with elements, the rest of the car isn't fitted with the required wiring loom!

Sounds like a nightmare of a task. Not got much information back yet when I do I will post it.
There was definitely no mention of a new dash!

I'd like to retrofit the car parking assist but I bet that isn't easy either

Just thinking a dash top may be needed because that's where the screen comes out. I suppose you could cut it, but I don't know if the base shape is the same.

Are you meaning self parking or just parking sensors?

Personally I can't see the cost in retrofitting a HUD is worth the result.

If you do mean self parking then again I'd think it would be a big expensive job, parking sensors maybe!

My view is I won't miss something I've never had Wink

Self parking I keep watching it on YouTube when people let the mini park it looks Fun ha

I think the head up display is a flat unit that sits on top of the dash I'd be surprised if they sell many retrofits though!

The HUD is inset into the top of the dash and the screen motors up when on then lowers back into the dash when off.

Not the same but a whole lot cheaper https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/mobile/mobileaccessories/hud-head-up-display-/prod134348.html

I know a lot won't agree but I think it spoils the line of the dash, OCD overdrive!!

It does, but if you don't have it you get blank switches... So it's a nightmare either way!

The switches aren't as much in my eyeline though...
