PostSubject: Insurance Quotes   Insurance Quotes Empty21st January 2010, 13:29

OK, Just been ringing around for insurance quotes for when I modify my car.

Obviously the std companies will not insure me as the can't comprehend Pulley's and intercoolers so it was basically down to Adrian Flux and Greenlight.

My current insurance is around the £670-700 mark with mods so far

Phoned up AF - guessed my car would be putting out around 210-220 Bhp when I'm done, told them this and they said £1106 Jaw Drop affraid Rolling Eyes Shocked

Phoned up GL - same deal and their policy is a bit better, but with £50 more excess. £565.70!! Much better Very Happy

Phoned back AF and told then to get the bike out, they were done, and they said email me the quote and we will beat it!

What I have summed up, AF are trying to mug people off and get the most money possible out of me.

Anyone with experience of these two?

I been with A.Flux for a year & just about to renew.

Had no probs to date & but up until last year they've have been expensive.

I am paying just over £400 this year & was just under £500 last year. Excess was £450 last year & no reduced to £250 for turning 25

I have heard that any enguine mods that increase BHP will increase your premium but none of our current mods incld my miltek/induction kit didnt increase.

apart from the pulley what are you planning scratch as that does sound a lot of £

I would have thought they could reduce/match the greenlight. I was told when i checked my adrres there is a premimum placed on your address

Hope that helps buddy Hug

Being Males makes a huge amount of difference Dawn! You would be surprised!

For a female leaning to drive, pricey insurance is around £800 For a bloke in the same situation it is more like £2-2.5 Grand!!

Pulley, intercooler all ads power but I personally think the quote is reasonable Smile

Yeh i understand - as you boys are classed as 'boy racers'

My first few years on my ka's were 1100 reduced to £899

My first year on chilli was £799 then last year was £789 with a £150 excess of £450 with a £450 excess.

It was mad when i was looking to buy her as it was cheaper for me to insure her for a year then continue/renew with my sportka so there is sometimes a great differnce between compnaies/prices

If you think thats an ok price then thats fine

This is my second year with Greenlight, can't recommend them enough (I should get commission Laughing)

I paid £700 this year with all mods declared, £350 excess, 4 points, 3 years NCB.

They charge £25 admin fee every time I add more mods, bit of a pain but the premium hasn't gone up because of them. Plus I get track day insurance with them on my policy for £50/day which saves me a small fortune!

Worth bearing in mind that they also replace parts like for like, so if a modified part gets damaged in an accident, it'll get replaced with the same part, not OEM!

I am also with Greenlight!! Not had any issues with them. They were fine with what I did to Jack when I had him. I paid about £450 for Jack at renewal last year and then I think they charged me about £85 from December until April for the Clubbie. Only thing is the £25 for mods, I have always timed my mods to renewal time and then I never get charged.

I could never justify that to myself! Anything over a grand and in my mind its not worth insuring! Good on you though! I haven't seen your car but from what you've told me its a beast!

Just rang up to get Katie insured on her ONE. The range I got goes to show how worthwhile it is ringing around and using price comparison websites:

Katie as main driver (21, 2 years full licence, 0 NCB, one accident last june where she was at fault) butme as registered owner and keeper.

MINI Insurance £1850
Direct Line £1575
Endsleigh £1040

and finally Admiral, who would have thunk it? £668 with declared mods of body colour bumpers and extrenal graphics, commuting use covered, and as with all above quotes, me as additional driver.

Needless to say, I snapped Admiral's arm off.

Mine is £790 with Adrian Flux, everything declared, which isn't too awful considering I'm 21, but I do have 5 years no claims already.
