Insurance Quotes - Page 5 Vide
PostSubject: Re: Insurance Quotes   Insurance Quotes - Page 5 Empty17th September 2010, 20:04

Got a quote of £965 Jaw Drop when I was looking at what I should expect to pay when its due, and that was with my current insurer. Ive never paid anything more than £850 and that was when I was 17 with my first car so why should I start paying that now being 25 and full no claims and a clean licence. Done some shopping around and got it at the £500 mark which is a little more bearable. having a saxo before was good for one thing CHEAP insurance.

Motor insurance costs are said to be on the rise - due in part to fraudulent claims and staged accidents as well as increases in damages awards for personal injury claims and the still large number of uninsured drivers.

Boring but costly stuff!

PostSubject: Re: Insurance Quotes   Insurance Quotes - Page 5 Empty17th December 2010, 18:18

Currently going through the process of trying to get mine sorted. Am 28 years old with 10 years No claims, 12000 miles per year, and best quote is Admiral with £436 and a £310 excess with current mods declared. Both parents are named drivers.

Worst quote was Prudential who wanted almost £1200. Adrian flux meanwhile quoted £570 with £450 excess, and i am awaiting a call back from Greenlight.

Anyone got any advice of where else to look? Was quite shocked to see £1200 come up for a Cooper D!

Have you looked at the insurance sponser on tM?

I know they say premiums have gone up but where some companies get the prices ive got no idea. Sometimes it makes me think are they just grabbing the prices out of the air

Yeah I have Neil, they're the ones I'm waiting to hear back from. I suppose my other question should be if people have experience of Admiral.

Most insurance companies will try it on. First year premium not to bad but when you renew then they increase it at renewal. I nearly always change insurer every year.

I have never had a problem with Admiral but no mods on my Clubman and no claims with them either. Basic full comp with Direct Line with clean license and 10 years no claims is £225 but then it increases with car hire cover, legal expences, business use but overall not too bad.It is alway good to have legal expences as well. My wife was once hit by an uninsured driver. The legal company sued his parents (it was their car!) and it was settled out of court and I got my repair money back!!

Unfortunately at renewal time one just has to spend a morning on the phone to get the best deal.

My renewal popped through the letterbox recently........

This will be my 3rd year with "More Than" ......

The first year it was approx £280, second year it went down to approx £265 and this renewal is £250.52 Very Happy

I'm more than happy with this I can tell you Very Happy thumbs up

Some companies think your more likely to have a claim made against you if you've made one against someone else. That's what I was told after someone went in to me in a car park. How that logic works I have no idea. Not all companies see it that way though.

Well the Good News is that the tM sponsor, Greenlight have come up with a quote that matches Admiral's, so I know where I'll be going. The premium is £20 up on what I paid last year, which I think is bearable. Still over the £400 barrier though, maybe if I clear 30 years old that'll change.

i got my renewal quote from Virgin Insurance last week and i was absolutely gob smacked!!!!!!!! Insurance Quotes - Page 5 292978

Last year fully comp with 5years no claims and protected no claims including my partner martin and my dad, my insurance was £54 a month, my renewal quoted that it was going to increase by a substantial amount they wanted me to pay out £1117 for the same cover as last year.

I sent a few days looking on line and found Sheilas Wheels were the cheapest fully comp including 6 years no claims, motor legal cover, personal legal cover, windscreen cover, free courtesy car, handbag cover, and breakdown cover for any vehicle with green flag. ALL that for less that what i was paying at Virgin last year in total paid out £96 deposit followed by 10 payments of £48. Bargin!!!!!

what gets me is i have been with virgin for past 5 years never made a claim or missed a payment, how can they justify such a masive increase it had almost doubled.

You always have to pay to protect NCB Dawn. It's prob cheaper in the long run. If you do write something of In the future atleast it won't affect it too much then.

The other day I learnt why all the premiums have gone up. It was a long winded 45 min long conversation but basically it has nothing to do with you as a drive, but as a general trend often not even linked to peoples (the countries) driving ability. Good old insurance, it's just numbers, statistics and calculators, they never actually look at what people are doing!

Yeh I am going to do don't worry I am not loosing my 5yrs NCB

Just annoyed it's going to cost us a lot extra when I am already up to my eyes in debt & first yr I've not been able to pay outright on my own Sad
