PostSubject: GRRRRRRRRRRR!   GRRRRRRRRRRR! Empty24th January 2010, 00:30

Went out tonight Smile had a nice meal and a catch up with my friends all was going well until....

Went round a corner and all of a sudden the car started making a funny noise at first i thought it was a flat tire so got out had a check and they were fine.... got back in the car a drove off, by this point my steering was going left and right uncontrollably so pulled over and began to panic! this time i though maybe the power steering had gone so pulled away to see if it was that, didn't seem to be that, pulled over again and freaked out BIG TIME (i don't have break down cover) called mum who yelled at me as she didn't have a clue what to do. Made a few phone calls to various people WHY DOES NO ONE PICK THERE PHONE UP IN EMERGENCIES! i apologise to Andy now who had also been called as i was really panicking! eventually my friend picks up and comes to the rescue and found the problem straight away. He jacked up the car and showed me that the front wheel was about to fall off!!! so he goes to the boot to find that there is no wheel nut tightener thing! so after dropping both my mates home going to his to find something to fix it going back to the abandoned car which was in such a rough area and fixing my car im finally home!

So sorry to Andy and Thank you too Matt!
Would BMW have taken the wheels off to do the front suspension? if so is this there fault :S

No

Sounds like they didnt re-torque(tighten your wheels up enough)

S*** hun thats bad luck No Hug & could have been nasty. May be hard to prove but i would get on to the garage again & let rip.

How far did you drive like that scratch as you may have to have get your tracking checked

Did your mate check the others for you scratch as i would get them checked as well to be on the safe side.

Ow hun Hug you, spencer & mini delarships are really not getting on are you Sad

Could have been worse but NEVER go to that dealer again. As others have said they should have used a torque wrench and been tightened to the perfect torque.

MINI tool kits are strange things. I don't have a wheel brace or a jack as I had run flats not a spare. On normal tyres now and just carry a can of tyre weld and a pump.

Sorry i couldn't help more. Glad your okay tho!

Still never go to that dealer! You should write Mini UK and the dealer manager a letter explaining all the problems you have had over the last few weeks!
