 | Subject: Sat Nav 14th January 2017, 08:09 | |
| Good morning all, Anyone know how to update my sat nav... I have the mini connected & media packs. I'm sure the dealer can do it for £200 like a previous BMW I had but does anyone know if there is an eBay option or does the forum have a copy that we can pass around for a fee? I am considering updating the on board software today (bluetooth, external devices etc) from the BMW Mini website using a USB, but I can't see anything for updating the maps? Thanks for any help. |

| They were DVD then went to USB but can't remember when the change was, pretty sure my 2011 was USB.. In the past I have seen on eBay updates but how good they are is another question |

| Thank you Dave, Just rang the dealer... pretty useless. They need me to speak to parts and really can't tell me anything I don't already know. Mine is Nov 2011 and I can't see any mention of a disc so I guess it on a HD and need updating via USB. Still can't find anything online to download, strange as they list software downloads but nothing for the nav. |

| Jason If the mini updates same as my bmw its via a usb port, I have updated the bmw several times, I purchased a lifetime code fom a vendor on ebay, then just downloaded the latest maps and transfer then onto a USB flash drive which has been formatted to fat32 prior to transfer, on the bmw it instantly recognizes the update and the onscreen display asks if you wish to up date, the first time I updated the maps it ask for a code since then its been twice year since 2015 and no longer asks for code it just proceeds with update. Here's a link on how to update:- http://www.bmwfsc.ca/instructions/ PM: me if you require more info & help |

| Hope you did not have to pay high price for your update and did you manage to get a lifetime code ! For others that may wish to update their BMW/Mini maps with lifetime codes there are various vendors on ebay:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=BMW+FSC%2C+Freischaltcode%2C+Road+Map+Update%2C+LIFETIME%2C+Motion%2C+Move%2C+Premium%2C+Next&_sacat=0 Just make sure you select the correct map type for your vehicle.

| hmmm, I'm beginning to think I could have got a lifetime code, but 30 quid is better than the 80 that the dealer wants to apply it. |

| Just to finish the thread... all done... code and download onto USB 29.99 all in from BMWupdates.co.uk. 2017 version... I am fairly rural so the 11.4gb download was 5 hours last night! Worse still, the upload to the car was 1 hour and 45 minutes this morning! :O Its running the most up to date software for the bluetooth, USB and Nav now though. EDIT.... should add that you can download a compressed file of about 5gb that needs unpacking with winrar.... I'm a mac user so couldn't be bothered with the compression route. |

| Pleased you managed to get the map update installed, its a shame I did not respond to your topic before you had made your purchase. Note:- BMW/Mini update their navigation maps twice yearly 2017.1 version was available from late October/November 2016 next version which is 2017.2 is normally released about April/May time just keep checking link below for latest version number. But for those that still need to update their navigation maps here's a link to download the map data only you will need to purchase the FSC code as a one off or a lifetime code from BMW/Mini FSC code suppliers. Download Map Data:- http://www.bmwfsc.ca/map-data/ |

My big problem is I don't use a computer only an IPad........HELP I'd guess there's a way of getting the system to tell you which map it currently has loaded? (No nav in the GP, just a Tom Tom stuck to the windscreen ). If we can work out which version you need, we can download it and get it on a USB stick for you if it's less than 16 Gb. Presumably it's then just a case of telling the nav to load it, via the USB port in the centre console? |

| It's real simple actually... You can get the version of your sat nav by pulling right on the joystick to get the options up, (from within the Nav map screen) then scroll to the very bottom and check out the version.... it should be the MOVE software by BMW with a year... you then download the 2017 version of that software and plug it to the glove compartment USB only... NOT the central rail one! You need a code to make it work which is where the money comes in. I'll gladly help if there is no one near you that can. |

If it helps my car uses BMW NBT Road Map Europe Europa NEXT version 2017-1 and this downloaded map data is 29.4gb size and does not fit on a 30gb usb stick, thats why I used a 128GB stick because time its formatted to FAT32 first the size shrinks, so a 30gb usb will be to small, it does explain on that link I provided how to find the map data info for mini's. Earlier minis it was via the little joystick and latest minis its via the fitted idrive which is similar to all bmw cars, I dont know where the location of usb port is for the mini you would have to check your handbook for that. From memory you select navigation then select options, then scroll down to navigation map information version, this will then display what map type and version you have got, note that different years of manufacture had different types of mapping installed. Some of the types were designated West Premium, East Premium, Move,West Motion, East Motion, Next, Evo, Route. so its important to check which type you have before downloading map data. |

| Honestly its not! Post up your sat nav software version and date and i'll post up the link you need. (pull joystick to the right from the map screen and scroll to the bottom). |
