It is good news but under the surface it was both inevitable and to some extent means that MINI can keep its' options open-
Inevitable because they will make it on the same line as the other cars so you keep the costs down (save for the motor which will be assembled in Germany)
and in terms of options if they ever have to move production they can move it all
Will be interesting to see how popular they are. The issue for me with electric cars is that nobody is tackling the end to end electricity supply issue. The talk is that if more than 5% of cars in a street are electric the supply infrastructure will need upgrading. We shall see.
