PostSubject: Tyres and TMPS   Tyres and TMPS Empty20th April 2019, 14:00

I am thinking of having new tyres but I’m not sure I understand the whole TMPS thing

Can new tyres go straight on the car without having to change the TMPS or does it have to have new ones?

I know if I go somewhere like kwik fit they won’t understand so want to know myself before I take it anywhere

Thanks

You can go anywhere and get them done. I got my Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's from Costco.

Just reset the system when the new tyres are on. If you go into the system on your central dash and follow the instructions its pretty easy

Thanks!

I saw posts of people saying they had to replace them and didn’t understand it.

There is a Costco right near me I may go there thanks

They often have offers on Michelin tyres so keep an eye out as they are not always the cheapest.

A TPMS will only last so long, maybe 5 or 6 years as the battery will have lost all its life so then they need replacing, not cheap.

Not to hijack but I had to get at late notice a BMW Mini sensor and it was something like £80. I haven’t tried the copies/non OEM from Ebay. If Craig needs any are these Ebay ones any good?

Don't know John as not had to buy one but would have thought there must be good ones a lot cheaper than BMW.

They are £20 a corner from the Stealers, they also need to know which sensor you have fitted, apparently they are colour coded inside the tyre (unhelpfully) so you need the right one's or they go screwy - I have some corroded valves to sort before my next road trip Tear Tear

BMW/MINI reducing prices? They used to be over £40 for the F series..

Lee, when you say colour coded do you mean for different series cars?
