| I’m not aware of a way but I’ve seen a MINI where it had been reversed so you had to toggle the switch to turn it on. I was told it was done by a dealer. You do get used to automatically turning off each trip though. |

| Thanks for the reply I have to go back in at weekend to the Mini dealer I will ask them if it can be done. But toggle to turn on is what i'm looking for, the wife drives it daily and she would like to get in and forget about it. She does not like it stop starting. |

| Just remembered you have a F series the one I spoke about was a R series. I’m sure it can be done but if a dealer will is a different story. |

| I think it is possible to code it via Bimmercode, I've read of people on the F56 forum doing it |

| It's a coding app that you can use to code certain things in BMW/MINI/Rolls-Royce. You need the app and an OBD adapter, the app then connects via WiFi to it and allows you to program different things - https://bimmercode.app There are also coders around that can probably do it for you, one that springs to mind is DD Coding, he seems to get good reviews and can code remotely too I think. |

| I have been looking on the web and clicked on your link to the app, can you recommend an OBD adaptor too many on eBay etc. not sure which one to get, it looks a great way of changing things, thanks a lot for your help. |

| It is a great tool, it's not cheap but I have it myself and have done a few things to mine. At the top of that web page there is an adapters link, that shows the ones that are compatible (it also has links to where you can buy them from) - I have a Vgate one, but I see it says they don't function properly anymore, mine does play up sometimes so I might have to upgrade it to one of the newer ones |

| Hi Ian read your reply it says at the top of the web page there is a link may be me but can't see any link to a web page am i stupid? The wife is really liking the Mini we thought the brake assist was when the handbrake was on and it released when you moved off, she only realised the brakes actually hold the vehicle for a couple of seconds, when hand brake off. |

Brake assist can be handy, works when facing down hill as well as up. My view of driving away with the handbrake on and relying on the auto release is not what I do as it can cause early rear brake wear as does using the cruise control. Good to hear your wife is enjoying the MINI CM .. |

| I have ordered an adaptor I'm hoping I can code the auto stop start to default to off, and maybe make the Mini make a noise when the car is locked, |

| You can definitely code it to beep when you lock/unlock it, I've coded it on my F56. These are the coding options for the F models, which also tells you where to go in the app to code it: https://bimmercode.app/cars/f56/ These are the ones you're after though: Auto Start Stop function memorySave the last used Auto Start Stop function setting for the next start of the car.
Values: Active Not active For this option the following control unit has to be available in the car: “Body Domain Controller” BDC_01Auto Start Stop function off by defaultSet the Auto Start Stop function to off by default when the car is started.
Values: Active Not active For this option the following control unit has to be available in the car: “Body Domain Controller” BDC_01Acoustical lock/unlock confirmationEnable/disable the acoustical confirmation when the car is locked/unlocked.
Values: Active Not active For this option the following control unit has to be available in the car: “Roof Function Center” FZD__08Checkbox acoustical lock confirmationEnable/disable the checkbox in the settings for doors/keys in the iDrive system to enable/disable the acoustical lock confirmation. If the checkbox in the iDrive system does not allow selection, please check if “Acoustical lock/unlock confirmation” in the “Roof Function Center” ECU is set to “Active“ also. To make this work, the car has to be equipped with an alarm system.
Values: Active Not active For this option the following control unit has to be available in the car: “Headunit” HU_NBT or “Headunit” HU_NBT_EVO |

And one other question twice now parked up in the garage started to unpack the back and the fan kicked in it ran for a good while? |

| Yeah that's right, the app isn't free. I'm sure there is something for the side lights, it might be under expert mode though (which is in German) - if you drop Bimmercode a message through the support contact on their website, I think they're pretty good at telling you what you need to change |

| That's good news you managed to do all the bits you wanted I haven't played around with video files on the 3rd gen, so I can't honestly say what file types it can or can't play. As well as here, have you joined up on www.minif56.com? Although the site is F56 it covers all 3rd gen MINIs and I know I've seen discussions on playing videos, so it might be worth asking on there |

| Hi I asked bimmercode for support they said I may have a "this may be the basic navigation system and this is not able to play videos unfortunately". The manual says it plays video but the manual covers all models. I will have a look at mini56.com, I tried registering with a forum called mini countryman but it stated my email was not allowed? |

| Hmm strange, do you have the wider screen? If so, then I'm pretty certain you should be able to play videos. |

| Yes I think the screen is wider and touch sensitive. When I used bimmercode the play video from USB was inactive, I made this active along with adding the video codes again using bimmercode, last night I tried again, but this time I selected voice command I got the message back " video playback is not currently available" but it plays the music from the MP4 video file. |

| That is strange, unless it is something to do with the format of the video. In my R56 I had a copy of The Italian Job on a USB which played, but I can't remember what format it was in. |
