| CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)Surrey New MINI is committed to following the latest UK Government advice on events and public gatherings, it is essential that everybody follows the guidance on social distancing and that those with symptoms self isolate - current Government and Public Health England / NHS advice states that all non-essential social contact with other people should be avoided for the foreseeable future. Therefore we are cancelling or postponing our monthly meets and local club events for the foreseeable future, most upcoming events that we were due to attend as a club have already been postponed or cancelled and any future ones will be closely monitored for updates, following the most up to date advice from the Government and Public Health England / NHS. Please check the events section for the most up to date information on future events. Whilst we may not be able to socialise face to face in person, we recognise the importance of social contact and encourage everybody to join in on the forum or via our Facebook page in the meantime, create group discussions where everybody can just chat and keep in touch, we may even try and host a virtual pub meet! Don't forget to also tag us on Instagram (@surreynewmini / #surreynewmini) if you're reliving some of the fantastic shows and events from last year. As well as looking after your own mental health and wellbeing, please don't forget to check in with your loved ones and friends by phone, messaging, video calling or social media too, particularly those that may be considered elderly or vulnerable. If you feel you are struggling with your own mental health or wellbeing due to social distancing or isolating, the following MIND links may be useful: https://www.mind.org.uk https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/coronavirus-and-your-wellbeing/ Please also continue to check the UK Government and NHS advice links below for the most up to date information, including symptoms to look out for, advice regarding social distancing and isolation, etc: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19 NHS 111 https://111.nhs.uk/service/COVID-19/

Thanks everyone - you’re quite right Abbie - bonkers is one word to describe it! In my 18 years of retail I’ve never known anything like it - it’s worse than Christmas & before we had the ‘lockdown’ it was awful - really showing the 2 sides to the public - have to say in the last week we’ve had nothing but nice people, but our workload has skyrocketed It does worry me, but we’ve limited the amount of people coming in, changed opening hours and close for lunch so that we can get some sort of break from the madness! Ian & Chris stay safe working in the environments you do, and everyone take care

Thanks Sarah I’ve signed up to be doing community home testing visits when it all starts so in the mean time I’m making the most of this time at home and like most catching up with doing stuff in the house and garden. Also signed up for the NHS voluntary services delivering meds and shopping to those who are isolating in my area.

Good luck and stay safe Chris. Been thinking about volunteering for deliveries as well if and when my anxiety settles down a bit. Provided I could fit in with my day job, as I'm fortunate enough to be still doing my hours and more and getting paid. Thought it might do me good if I could get out in the car in the evenings to help out, and stop me thinking about it all too much.

Neil, Its all run from an app, and it has a button you press to say when your available and if any one wants you you receive a message and you responds by clicking yes or no to do the job.

It does look like a great setup from what I've seen for the volunteering app! I was considering volunteering too, to help with meds and the smaller stuff, but I've been working quite late into the evenings since the lockdown and I don't think I'd be able to volunteer much free time at the moment unfortunately Now I'm not an emotional kind of person but I have to say the amount of love for the NHS and all key workers right now, especially tonights clapping and with all the volunteers that have stepped up so far, has been amazing, I admit it has made me feel emotional. I feel so proud, not only with how we're handling it, but also after all the Brexit stuff, how the country has come together.

Decided to volunteer for deliveries after the applause at 8 last night, so waiting to hear. My anxiety is bad in the mornings at the moment, but it generally settles down as the day goes on, and now work is pretty much sorted as far as WFH goes, I should have time in the evenings.

Hope everyone is still keeping safe and well, and our virtual pub meets are helping with everybody's social contact and mental health - especially now we're heading into at least another 3 weeks of lockdown and isolation. It's nice to see everybody and catch up regularly at the moment, I'm fortunate in that I still have to go out and get to talk to staff, but it's especially nice for those that are stuck at home and not seeing anybody at all You may have seen on Facebook today, but we've had some lovely surprises from Cadbury, MARS and Starbucks this week - a little thank you to all NHS staff of Easter eggs, orange juice and also sandwiches Keep safe everyone, I'm sure you've all seen that more events have been cancelled or postponed until later in the year.

The virtual pub meets are definitely helping me. Other than delivery drivers, I haven't actually seen anyone for quite a while now, and though I'm usually quite isolated during the weeks anyway, other than work, I find it does get to me sometimes. And I'm still doing a bit of planning for future stuff when I have the energy, even if things like Scotland don't now happen this summer. As well as revisiting past trips, until now I never did get round to going through all the Go Pro footage from our 2018 Euro trip. Starting to feel that those thinking there will be any large scale shows or other events this year are probably being a bit optimistic now, but we'll see. Kind of where we come into our own though, as we of course do lots of our own small scale runs and meets anyway, and hoping we might be back to those by early summer.

I think that's the thing, you just have to try and keep yourself as occupied as much as possible, which is hard as you're limited to what you can do without going out, or you run out of things at home. Yeah I think you're right, but next year everything will hopefully come back with a bang, and in the meantime once we are out of lockdown we can get back out and enjoy ourselves again, even with practicing social distancing still

| Following the latest update from the UK Government, our advice is everybody should continue as they have been, stay at home - although we've been told we can go out and meet with up to 6 people in the open air now it doesn't mean you should. Only go out if it's really necessary, if you do have to, then wear a facemark if you happen to be in an enclosed space, keep to social distancing guidelines and keep washing those hands. As a club we still say all runs, events, meets, etc are postponed until further notice (despite Government advice of allowing up to 6 people to meet in an outside space, social distancing), probably until the lockdown restrictions are relaxed completely, but we will review them each time they change. We wouldn't want anybody to meet up too soon and get ill - it's better to be safe than sorry. Stay safe, stay well, we’re in this together and we will beat this together, but only if we are all sensible <--- obviously they are virtual hugs, due to social distancing
